Every success, growth and advancement come from people, and people forms the communities around the world. Which is why we know that it is important to continue supporting and building a thriving community where we operate in.
By engaging and empowering our community, we are enabling them to evolve in better versions of themselves. Ultimately, this will uplift their qualify of life and contributes to nation building.
In the spirit of giving back this Deepavali, our Team Hartanians brought cheer to 484 beneficiaries from Taman Suria in Bestari Jaya, through a contribution of grocery supplies like rice and cooking oil.
This event is a part of Hartalega's ongoing CSR initiatives, which is dedicated to making a meaningful impact ─ positively enriching and #TouchingLives of those in need. We hope that this contribution fills them with joy, warmth and love for their Deepavali celebrations.
Through our collaboration with EPIC Homes, we set off on an adventure − successfully building 4 houses in 2024, with 2 and 3-bedrooms, for the Orang Asli community in Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Manchong, Rawang!
Nestled in the forest within a mountain range, this is a new village that EPIC Homes is working with − making the house that our Team Hartanians built the first in the village. The surprise? We successfully completed each home over the span of 3 days!
This programme is a meaningful community outreach initiative that not only fosters social engagement, but also leaves a purposeful impact on the lives of those in need. Together, we can make a positive difference in the community.
Hartalega formed a new collaboration with Hopes Malaysia − an emerging civil society organisation (CSO) with over six years of experience in rural Sabah − supporting two of their community-based projects to meet the basic needs of the underprivileged rural Sabah community.
During the 'Kampung Sogoh Gravity Water' project, Hartalega assisted with the installation of pipelines and water tanks in Kampung Sogoh, whose community struggled with access to a clean water supply for over 50 years! This initiative, involving the collection of spring water from nearby hills, ensures access to clean water for 464 beneficiaries.
Hartalega also assisted with the refurbishing of a decade-old 'Kampung Lobong-Lobong Bridge', used by over 100 people daily, including villagers, farmers, and students from SK Kaung Ulu. The 100-metre-long bridge, which shortens the journey by 2km (more than an hour walk!), was refurbished using sustainable materials to ensure it lasts beyond 10 years.
These initiatives represent a collaborative effort to address disparities in the rural Sabah setting − doing all that we can to uplift the quality of life and contribute towards nation-building with a society that is equitable, harmonious, and prosperous.
Recognising the importance to uplift the quality of life and empower our communities, Hartalega recently conducted our annual 'Kongsi Rezeki' programme for the community in and around Sepang.
During the programme, a total of 3000 beneficiaries from Kampung Labu Lanjut and Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi received daily necessities such as cooking oil, rice, canned sardines, coffee, and tea.
This 'Kongsi Rezeki' programme reaffirms our commitment to community enrichment and wellbeing. We will continue playing our part as a responsible corporate citizen − supporting and building a thriving community around us.
Hartalega collaborated with MUN Global to sponsor one of the most prominent community events in Kuala Lumpur, Iftar@KL. The four-day event organised by the National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN), saw over 35,000 individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities coming together to partake in the festivities − further enriching the cultural tapestry of Kuala Lumpur.
As part of our continuous efforts to support the local community, our subsidiary, MUN Global contributed the COATS® gloves from their GloveOn range while Hartalega distributed aprons to over 60 participants from the local food truck community and the “Bubur Lambuk” volunteers over 2 consecutive weekends.
With a dedicated team of 400 volunteers, including our Hartanians, who wholeheartedly contributed their time and effort to ensure the smooth execution of this programme, we reiterate our commitment to Touching Lives and promoting hygiene and safety standards in the community.
Our Management Team embarked on an amazing journey to build real homes for the Orang Asli in Kampung Songkok, Batang Kali, Selangor. The surprise? They completed a 2-bedroom house in just 3 days! It was double the joy as two different talented teams, fueled by the skills learnt at the Basic Builder Workshop, took charge over two weeks in December 2023 to build two houses for two families.
This programme is more than just teambuilding; it's a heart-to-heart connection that makes a difference in the lives of both Hartanians and the community involved. Together, we're not only building houses but also creating a safe haven for families.
With a view towards improving quality of life and a commitment to positively #TouchingLives, we focus our efforts on providing support to those in need. This year, Yayasan Hartalega and Good Shepherd Services collaborated on two projects for SMK Tulid students in Keningau, Sabah − offering safe accommodation and reliable transportation for them to attend school regularly.
Project Asrama Komuniti Tulid provides shelter to 24 secondary school girls, who were not able to secure spots for accommodation in the school hostel. They live in villages located approximately 30km away (60km round trip), which makes walking to school a challenge. Hence, they end up not going to school most of the time. In addition, Project Komuniti Van Sekolah was initiated for the other students living 10km - 35 km. Currently, a total of 17 students from 6 villages are using this community van service.
During our #TeamHartanians visit to Tulid, we also managed to meet the parents and students who are a part of this project, either staying at Asrama Komuniti Tulid or using the community van service. Given our keen understanding of their needs and challenges, we will continue making a positive social impact to these communities.
As part of our commitment to #TouchingLives, Yayasan Hartalega and @globalpeacemy collaborated on four vital projects over the past year for 30 Orang Asli families (amounting to 140 people) in Kampung Kepesoh, Rompin Pahang. The successful projects included:
1. Provision of Clean Water - We distributed LifeStraw water filtration systems and conducted training for the community, especially the children on handwashing, toothbrushing, and nutrition.
2. Installation of Solar Water Pumps - We built a water storage, installed water pumps, and laid out pipes to improve their water access.
3. Sanitation Enhancement - We constructed 7 washroom units for the community and conducted training on washroom maintenance.
4. Access to Solar Energy: We provided the households with renewable energy access through solar lighting.
In July 2023, 12 of our #TeamHartanians visited the village to complete the washroom units − with essential washroom equipment in hand − and inspected the water storage before the handover ceremony to the families.
Hartalega will continue its efforts to provide support to those in need, with a view towards improving quality of life.
In the spirit of giving back, this Deepavali, Hartalega’s CSR department contributed grocery supplies like rice, flour, curry powder and oil to 350 beneficiaries at Taman Suria in Bestari Jaya.
At Hartalega, our commitment is to positively enrich and touch lives, and we are dedicated to giving back to the community. We hope that this contribution has filled them with joy for their Deepavali celebrations.
We're grateful to have had the opportunity to give back to our community during Ramadan. Together with our #TeamHartanians, we distributed over 300 packs of "bubur lambuk" and hosted an iftar session with the local community in Taman Kota Puteri.
In addition, we provided essential groceries to 600 B40 beneficiaries in Ijok and Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor with the help of village chiefs from several surrounding villages.
We hope that our small gesture has brought them joy, and we will continue to spread love and #TouchingLives to those in need.
At Hartalega, we are deeply entrenched to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. Through our recent CSR programme, we were able to bring together our dedicated #TeamHartanians and the local community to clean the surrounding area of Kampung Labu Lanjut in Sepang. Despite the challenge of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, our team worked tirelessly to prepare and distribute 1,000 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’, a traditional Ramadan dish, to the community.
In addition, we also distributed 'duit raya' to over 400 B40 families in Kampung Labu Lanjut. It was certainly a heartwarming experience to see the joy on the faces of those we were able to help.
Giving back to society and doing the right thing for the betterment of people is deeply rewarding and we will continue #TouchingLives towards our goal of making a meaningful impact in the lives of those around us.
Making a difference this Chinese New Year with our CSR initiatives!
We brought joy to over 110 senior citizens at the Taman Suria, Bestari Jaya & Jashira Old Folk Homes with some financial aid to enable them to purchase necessities and make their festive season brighter.
Our commitment to giving back to the community and creating a positive impact is at the forefront of all our efforts. We hope our work will inspire you to continue spreading kindness to the world.
Through Yayasan Hartalega, we collaborated with Kelab Ops Harapan to run the #OpsHarapan2.0 programme, whereby we distributed grocery vouchers to close to 2,000 families who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We believe this will help alleviate the burden of these families, as they weather the hardship faced in these trying times.
We hope that our efforts will also inspire others to do the same when they come across those who need help anytime. It is important for every single one of us to come together and support one another.
Dedicated to support and respond to the plight of communities affected by the pandemic, #Hartalega CSR team distributed groceries and cash vouchers to the community leaders of Sepang, Bestari Jaya as well as Sepang District Police Headquarters last week as part of our #TouchingLives initiative.
Through these leaders, the goods were distributed to the local community. This contribution is estimated to benefit over 3,700 people who have been affected.
Let’s continue to make positive impacts to our society especially during this trying time. Together, we can get through this storm weather.
Recognising the plight of the underprivileged communities affected by the major flood that happened in December 2021, we have extended support to 8,000 residents in Sepang and Bestari Jaya with RM 200 cash grocery vouchers.
We also distributed necessities such as food, medication, diapers, and many more to the community that was affected by the flood.
We thank all the kind souls who lent a helping hand to ensure that no one is left behind. We are all in this together!
During the holy month of Ramadan, we engaged the local community as part of our Kongsi Rezeki Programme. Together with Team Hartanians, we distributed delicious dates to over 2,000 people in Sepang and Shah Alam.
In addition, we also expanded to more areas in Sepang and Bestari Jaya and contributed grocery vouchers to over 2,000 underprivileged beneficiaries. We hope that this contribution would help elevate their spirit and enable them to have a good Hari Raya celebration. Committed to enriching the lives of the people, we will continue to give back to society as best as we can.
Committed to touching lives and to support the community, our Yayasan Hartalega worked together with Rotary Club of KL DiRaja (RCKLDR) and MyKasih Foundation to help those who were affected by the pandemic.
We reached out to the community in across Batang Kali, Selangor, Bahau, Negeri Sembilan, Sibu, Sarawak, and Northern Malaysia to provide them with financial aid to purchase groceries for their everyday needs. We believe that it is important for us to support as many people we can. Together, we truly believe that we will all come out from this storm stronger.
Staying true to our commitment towards touching lives of the community, our Yayasan Hartalega became one of the partners to sponsor a new Child Care Centre (CCC). This centre is managed by the Women Aid Organisation (WAO) as a shelter for children who have experienced sexual or gender-based abuse, and others who seek shelter support from WAO.
